The Maryland Referee Committee is the main policy making center for all United States Soccer Federation affiliated referees in the State of Maryland. The main function of the committee is to ensure that all referees in the State reach the highest level of officiating that their ability, determination and drive can take them. The committee further acts as a liaison between the National Referee Committee and the State’s referees.
Other duties of the committee include investigating complaints concerning referee activity, administering the budget for the State’s referees, overseeing referee development (which includes assessment and training) and selecting the winners of the annual referee service awards.
The committee meets four times per year. Topics for discussion are set in advance. The committee invites participation by accepting written concerns or suggestions from all interested parties. Anyone interested in contacting the referee committee may do so by e-mailing Greg Watson.
