Grassroots Referee Recertification Information

Important SafeSport requirement information

Every referee 18 years of age and older MUST complete SafeSport training in order to officiate any games. The new training will take approximately 2 hours and is mandatory.  The annual SafeSport refresher course will take approximately 45 minutes. You are required to complete this prior to recertifying. When you complete your training through the clinic lesson, your SafeSport license will become part of your U.S. Soccer Learning Center profile.

2022 Online Grassroots Referee Recertification

Once again, Grassroots Referee Recertification will be totally online for 2022. As was the case last year, there are 3 varying sets of lessons, depending on your experience level.

If you were certified as a new Grassroots Referee in 2021, you should register for the clinic titled Grassroots Recertification (NEW). If you are in this category, you will be emailed a Clinic Invitation Code.

If your original Grassroots Referee badge was dated 2020 (you already recertified one time to obtain your 2021 badge), you should register for the clinic titled Grassroots Recertification (INTERMEDIATE). If you are in this category, you will be emailed a Clinic Invitation Code.

If your original Grassroots Referee badge was dated 2019 or earlier (you have already recertified two or more times), you should register for the clinic titled Grassroots Recertification (EXPERIENCED). No Clinic Invitation Code is needed for this course.

Some of the lessons are the same in all 3 courses, however some differ. Once you have successfully completed all of the online lessons, your 2022 badge will be mailed to you. If you have any questions, please contact Jimmy Graham, SRA or email to [email protected].
