Grassroots Referee Recertification Information

Important Background Check/SafeSport requirement information

Every referee 18 years of age and older MUST complete a Background Check and SafeSport training in order to officiate any games. The new SafeSport training will take approximately 2 hours and is mandatory.  The annual SafeSport refresher course will take approximately 45 minutes. You are required to complete this prior to recertifying. When you complete your training through the clinic lesson, your SafeSport license will become part of your U.S. Soccer Learning Center profile.

There are three different 2023 online recertification courses. They are:

Grassroots Referee Recertification (New) – you should register for this if you are a new referee (you completed your entry level clinic within the past year and your badge said “2022”). You will be emailed a Clinic Invitation Code for this course.
Grassroots Referee Recertification (Intermediate) – you should register for this clinic if your original badge said 2021 and you have already recertified one time. You will be emailed a Clinic Invitation Code for this course.
Grassroots Referee Recertification (Experienced) – you should register for this clinic if your original badge was 2020 or earlier. No Clinic Invitation Code is needed to register for this course.

If you have any questions or if you did not receive a Clinic Invitation Code, contact Terry Miller.
