Regional Referee Requirements

Important dates:

July 1 – June 30 – Registration Year
January 1 – December 31 – Badge Year

Upgrading to Regional Referee Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Minimum Game Count: 25 games as a Referee and 15 games as an Assistant Referee at the Adult Amateur Level
  • Must have been a Grassroots or Regional Emeritus Referee for at least the last 3 registration years.
  • Minimum of 3 passing assessments as a Referee (completed between January 1 and December 31)
    • 2 at the Adult Amateur Level
    • 1 at the youth level (U18 or U19)
  • Pass Fitness Test (completed between January 1 and December 31)
  • Complete Online Regional Referee Upgrade clinic
  • Current SafeSport Training License
  • Current background screening
  • Attend In-Person/Zoom Upgrade Clinic (variations dictated by COVID safety considerations)
  • Must have attended a one-day Grassroots Advanced Clinic and completed associated online lessons

 

Recertifying as a Regional Referee:

  • Must have been a Regional Referee for at least one of the previous 3 registration years
    • OR must have been a National Referee or National Assistant Referee at some point.
  • Minimum of 2 passing assessments as a Referee (completed between January 1 and December 31)
    • 1 at the Adult Amateur Level
    • 1 at the highest youth level (U18 or U19)
  • Pass Fitness Test (completed between January 1 and December 31)
  • Complete Online Regional Referee Recertification clinic
  • Current SafeSport Training License
  • Current background screening
  • Attend In-Person/Zoom Regional Referee Clinic (variations dictated by COVID safety considerations)
